The Sunday open was on Mucky Meadow Pool this week.
Cold temperatures Friday and Saturday night meant that it was a battle to keep the ice away. We had a tie for first place this week with Bob Skelding, Excelsior Loco, and Paul Cook, Mark’s Tackle, both landing 26 lb.
Bob was on peg 49 and only caught carp and Paul was on peg 36 and landed carp and silver fish. In third place was Andy Newton, Furnace Mill, with 25 lb 9 oz from peg 48. Nigel Marchington had the best silver weight from peg 32.

On the hook the expanders are proving popular with the open anglers but pleasure anglers are opting for the ready prepared hookers. Corn and maggot fished over the red 2.5 mm pellet has produced steadily only light feeding required.
